Randomised Gaming takes an in depth look at the many problems, issues and errors, Xbox 360, One & Series S/X users can face when buying Xbox 360 games. This is a must watch as our editor looks at the mounting number of issues Xbox 360 owners can face, is it time Microsoft rethink the shutting down of the store? On the 29th of July not only will key free patch DLC no longer be available, but as it stands some content downloads are disappearing from users download list while others refuse to download or work at all. Not to mention the fact games are being delisted from the store even before the shutdown.

We are raising a number of consumer issues in this video to help raise awareness of the issue and that this in turn help people become aware of the problems and start asking Microsoft some tough questions. Many of these issues need to be fixed.

Corrections from Riven, when I mentioned Forza Motorsport 7 being online only. That was an error I was talking about Forza Motorsport 2023 so number 8 in fact which is online only. Also made a Freudian slip when I mentioned Homer Louis “Boots” Randolph III name, yes sorry about that. Oh and the Forza Horizon 2 DLC that didn’t work was the Day One release car pack, we got a new and sealed one a few months back.

Games shown in this video in order of appearance, Fez, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, Armored Core Verdict Day, Worms, de Blob 2, Altered Beast, Command & Conquer Red Alert 3, Jade Empire, Unreal Championship 2 The Liandri Conflict, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, TRON (XBLA), Caladrius, Shooting Love 200X, Forza Horizon 2, Rage II, Hypotenuse & Aqualibrium.

  2. Corrections from Riven, when I mentioned Forza Motorsport 7 being online only. That was an error I was talking about Forza Motorsport 2023 so number 8 in fact which is online only. Also made a Freudian slip when I mentioned Homer Louis "Boots" Randolph III name, yes sorry about that. Oh and the Forza Horizon 2 DLC that didn't work was the Day One release car pack, we got a new and sealed one a few months back.

  3. This is very insightful! Thank you for the information! Do you happen to know if there is a list of games that have compatibility patches on the store?

  4. 360 store is a mess, i won't reward microsoft for their incompetence. I got what i wanted on Steam, other stuff i'll just emulate on RPCS3 if it's multiplatform or wait for improved xbox 360 emulation.

  5. Meanwhile apart from a bit of slowdown the PS3 store is fully functional 😏😅

  6. So I live in Poland and I tried to buy the DLC for Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 (for preservation purposes). To my surprise, the DLC was nowhere to be seen when I was browsing through the 360 store's browser despite it being apparently relisted after many years. After doing some research I found out it IS in fact available to download… but only in the UK, USA, Australia and Japan. Microsoft, why do you do this? You made me buy the game the second time for the PS3 just to get the DLC! I didn't have this problem with Unleashed. But I do have this problem with Jet Set Radio 2012 re-release. Couldn't buy it on 360, had to get it on PS3.

  7. MS Pac Man (Xbox 360) got entirely removed from 360 system and all codes for that game cant be redeemed on 360 anymore and they must be redeemed on 360 for some weird reason even though the game is BC i personally have a code of the game but i just cant redeem it, You can check a thread i made on TA on game forum about this issue.

MS Pac Man (Xbox 360) codes are available via some XBLA collection discs and MS Pac man game cards.

  8. Clearly a lot of work went into this report. Detailed and to the point. Really appreciated 😀👍 Still…watched it like some slasher horror of the digital future – in cold sweat. It will be a total mess by the midsummer. Clearly a violation of consumer rights. Same will come to my PS3 eventually 😢

  9. I've got many of these problems, but I also have a new one for you. When scrolling (slowly) down my "Download History" on my Xbox 360, I get to a listing that appears to crash the screen for some reason. So, any downloads beyond that "item" are also lost to me. I don't have a good clue as to what it could be, other than the listings just before it. I first thought it could be a problem with just the sheer number of items being returned, as if the call was accidentally capped at, say, 500, but it is breaking in the mid 800's for me. I talked to another player who is having this problem, but it is happening repeatedly to them at a much lower number. I think it is a third-type of element that is essentially 'Content not available' but of a level that is just crashing the Download History. I have noticed that if I try to scroll my "Download History" quickly, it'll crash due to that too.

  10. I’d gone through and re-downloaded everything I thought I should a few months back, just in case they were planning on removing the ability to do that… And yeah, it seems it’ll be inconsistent and tricky. I really hope Microsoft has some solution for 360 preservation in the future, whether it’s expanding the backwards compatibility program as it is, or focusing on virtualizating the OS itself so one can boot up an “Xbox 360 mode” application on their modern Xboxes (and Windows 10/11 PCs??). I know the servers have to come down someday, but Microsoft really does have an obligation to help all of us—the developers, publishers, and players—with this issue. The way the 360 dashboard and marketplace are organized is NOT how it deserves to remain forevermore, especially after half of the functions are deprecated and lead to dead ends. Man, images aren’t gonna load, ad placements are gonna be blank wastes of screen space, it’s gonna be so depressing to look at and browse through…

On that note, Microsoft really needs to give the Xbox 360 one last major UI overhaul to simplify what’s staying, remove/hide what isn’t, and make every function quicker and more convenient. That download history list is barely functional, so a library page similar to modern Xboxes would be ideal. I dunno, you probably cover a lot of this in the video, but I’ll be watching it soon.

  11. The cod advanced warfare [360 version] add ons dont work only the map packs work on the 360 and xb1/series x

  12. I had that happen alot the download would get near to completing on the 360 and it would go back to 0% and I thought it was just me so I didn't say anything

  13. I feel like Microsoft has done their best to work with publishers/developers to make games backwards compatible during the xbox one era. I'm sure the analytics show its more expensive to keep the 360 servers up not to mention exploits that can arise in the future. Id imagine the xbox one marketplace will be available in the future for awhile.

  14. Something to add. If you download and play a free trial of a arcade game, the achievements will now show up in your history like it was a full unlock game. Tried this with a trial I had of Soul Calibur HD to see if I can purchase the full game and it's now in my history.

Also my trail version of MVC2 is the full version as the unlock option is missing

  15. Great video man, thanks for making it. I’ve had a major problem with my 360 for years involving the indie games. Purchased in 2012 probably, only half of them are playable. The other half are registered as demos. Castleminer Z? Playable. Total miner Forge? Naaah. I know it’s super specific, thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

  16. Great comprehensive and thorough video! I saw DLC for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag on the US Xbox 360 Marketplace that's available for purchase but on the Xbox One I see them but there's no way to buy them even though it's a backwards compatible game. I can only find purchasable DLC for the Xbox One version of the game. Regarding games not downloading, I have a similar issue… I have games that won't finish downloading such as GTA IV, Saint Row: Gat Out of Hell, and Midnight Club: Los Angeles Complete both that are compatible with later Microsoft consoles, however Call of Duty Classic that's not backwards compatible at all also doesn't complete the download. In my case I get a different generic message after the download attempt usually stopping at around 80% showing the following: “ Your active and pending downloads appear here. Recently completed download will appear in My Games and in the System Music Player and System Video Player apps. To download new content, check the Xbox stores and media apps available in the Xbox Dashboard.” I tried some potential solutions like deleting the incomplete game file that didn't finished downloading from the hard drive, clearing the system's cache and disconnecting both my console and router for over 5 minutes and plugging them back and downloading while putting the console in sleep mode, connected online via ethernet cable (for faster download speeds) but nothing fixes this issue. It’s really frustrating and one of the reasons why I won’t be buying anything digitally on my Xbox 360 anymore since Microsoft can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to download and play games that I purchased or give refunds.

  17. A few other things to mention:

    – Be careful when pinning any Games/DLC to your 360's pinned games section. If the Game/DLC is later delisted from the Xbox Marketplace while saved to your pins, the system will create junk data in the form of an undeletable pin. While you'll still be able to download any previously purchased games and content associated with these pins through the Download List, this data can clog your system and may result in corrupted data later on down the road.

    – The Download List will not display properly while you are currently in the process of downloading Games/DLC. If you want to look through your Download List properly, make sure you have no Active Download going on in the background.

    – All Xbox 360 Digital Download codes have recently been removed from sites like Amazon, but if you have any codes that you have previously purchased, you should redeem them ASAP. Some download codes that previously were glitched and weren't able to be downloaded like the one for "Soul Caliber HD" have been fixed and you can now download them properly on a 360 console if you previously purchased them.
